Tobacco plant wan and is still used by many Aboriginal communities for different sacred ceremonies and for curing. Even it is so high appreciated by Aborigines, modern and civilized world claims that tobacco is very harmful and should be excerpted from people's life at all.

Ontario publication decided to draw the line between sacred tobacco and commercial tobacco, albeit in both cases it is spoke by the same plant.

"Commercial tobacco use is much higher within the Aboriginal population," says Nancy Korstanje, manager of community integration and promotion at Smokers' Helpline. "Aboriginal people have used tobacco for thousands of years for rituals, ceremonies and medicinal purposes. It is important to know the difference between Sacred Tobacco and commercial tobacco."

Aborigines use for their rituals more than 10 different plants related to Sacred Tobacco. Namely those plants help them to communicate with the Spirit World and to the Creator.

The tobacco becomes a total different plant when it becomes commercial, because it is addictive and its smoking can lead to death.

Article hasn't explained that there is the difference between tobacco used for rituals and that used in tobacco industry, but those who want to quit the Canadian Cancer Society Smokers' Helpline and Smokers' Helpline Online are eager to help you with that.
